  1. Your Software should be up to date. This helps remove critical pieces of information that hackers use to access your devices.
    • Install software updates, especially when they include important security upgrades.
    • Set up automatic updates on your devices.
  2. Use Strong Passwords. When creating a new password, pay attention to strong password requirements. Passwords are important in keeping hackers out of your data Don’t use the same password twice.
    • Avoid sharing your passwords with other people.
    • Don’t use common, easily guessable passwords. Example ( birthdays, anniversary, etc.)
    • Reset your password when you forget it.
  3. Use Two-Factor Authentication. Two-factor enables you to enter one additional authentication method such as a Personal Identification Code, or fingerprint. Add this extra layer of security to keep your accounts safe even if someone knows your password.
  4. Back-Up Your Personal Data. If you become a victim of malware, you can restore your data by erasing your systems and restoring with the most recent backup. Make sure you perform backups regularly.
  5. Pay attention to suspicious emails, text messages, or phone calls. Malicious links are sent by people disguising to get access to your information. They go as far as using copy logos of big brands.
  6. Be Careful About Wifi. Don’t use public Wi-Fi without using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Avoid connecting to unsecured public wifi networks.
  7. Be Careful Who You Meet Online. Some people you meet online may not always be who they claim to be. They may not even be real.
